Google has once again reiterated that the content should be written for the users and not to gain the links. If the content publishers and distributors don’t follow Google’s policies against links, they may be penalised.

Google warns against misusing links in syndication and large scale articles

Google says, it is not against article distribution, but link building shouldn’t come first.

Google may consider the violation of its link policy, if the following happens:

  • Stuffing keyword rich links to your site in articles

  • Publishing the articles across many different sites, or publishing the articles on a few large different sites

  • Hiring the article writers, who are not knowledgeable about the topic

  • Using the same or similar content across these articles, or duplicating the full content of articles found on your own site

It’s better to stay safe. There are few things can be done. One, ‘nofollow’ tags should be used on the links, you don’t want Google to follow. Second, ‘canonical’ tags should be used on the original version of content, which informs Google that this is the original content and don’t pass any credit to other versions.

Google’s best advice regarding content is its originality and usability. If the publishers think that spammy websites are using their content link, they can request Google to disavow those links.

Nobody likes aggressive and repeated guest blog requests. If publishers or webmasters do get this kind of requests, they may report to Google using ‘Spam Report Form’.
